070630 Kort
Politiska hearings, artikelserier i stora tidningar, TV-program
mm.
"But
new oil is to be found, and is being found throughout the globe and made
increasingly accessible by innovations in exploration and technology from
deepwater fields in the Gulf of Mexico, Cambodia, Africa, China, India,
offshore Sakhalin, the marginally tapped Canadian oil sands, the Venezuelan
Orinoco deposits, our Western shale oil, our currently offlimit offshore and
Alaskan deposits, and of course the potential buried in the Artic and the
enormous potential of a peaceful Iraq whose oil resources, were they ever to
be fully developed, could conceivably challenge those of Saudi Arabia. The
list could go on."

tveksam till alternativen
Jeroen
"Instead of a great conversion to wind power and solar power, Mr van der
Veer predicts, the world will be forced into greater use of coal and much
higher CO2 emissions, “possibly to levels we deem unacceptable”.
Alternative energy sources, such as renewables, will not fill the gap, says
Mr van der Veer, who forecasts that even with major technological
breakthroughs, renewables could account for only 30 per cent of energy
supply by the middle of the century.
“Contrary to public perceptions, renewable energy is not the silver bullet
that will soon solve all our problems,”
070625 Bartlett
"He
was quoted in the article as saying... "we're the biggest exporter of coal
in the world, we have enough for 110 years worth at present rates of
consumption, we're so proud of that, and our consumption is growing 5% per
year." Well 5% per year, if you could continue that, your resource wouldn't
last 110 years it would last something like 40 years. But 110 years, by
itself- that should be sounding off alarm bells, because 110 years is very
short compared to the life expectancy of a modern society. And if you're
going to maintain a modern society, you want to maintain it for more than
110 years. And that is at present rates of consumption- and no one is
talking about present rates of consumption. They're talking about 5% growth
per year. And then what I did was to factor in the Gaussian error curve so
that the thing added up properly. And you find that the peak will be in
something like 25 to 30 years, peak production of coal, and then it'll go
downhill."

Oil-psykologi
"In
behavioral terms, peak oil is an aversive consequence. The Hirsch report's
crash program is an avoidance response that will prevent the worst of the
aversive consequence from occurring. Meeting the challenge of peak oil is
therefore a problem of engaging in successful avoidance responding.
Peak oil is an especially difficult problem due to (a) the nonrecurring
nature of peak oil, (b) the delay of the aversive consequence, (c) the
variability in the predicted date of peak oil, (d) the predicted
aversiveness of peak oil, and (e) the nature of avoidance responding."

070621 BP & Peak
Oil i The Independent
(Rapporten har f.ö. kommenterats ganska grundligt hos The
OilDrum under titeln:
Lies, damned lies and BP
statistics) I tidningsartikeln får även Colin Campbell och
Chris Skrebowski framföra sin syn på
saken.
"This scenario is
flatly denied by BP, whose chief economist Peter Davies has dismissed the
arguments of "peak oil" theorists.
"We don't believe there is an absolute resource constraint. When peak oil
comes, it is just as likely to come from consumption peaking, perhaps
because of climate change policies as from production peaking."

hos You Tube

hos You Tube
David Rutledge, professor i tillämpad vetenskap inom radioelektronik, håller
senaste tilläggen i datafloden:
"1)
Total world exports of all fuel liquids have been on a plateau since the end
of 2004, and declined slightly in the last year, despite production
increases.
2) Liquids exports from non-OPEC countries as a whole have declined since
the beginning of 2004.
3) OPEC liquids exports have increased until the end of 2005, followed by a
short plateau after which a slow decline set in, mainly due to declining
production in Saudi Arabia."
070606 Oljan och
temperaturen
